A small medieval hamlet, abandoned for half a century, brought back as one residence. The category for parties who want to take a village.

What this category is
A Restored Borgo is what happens when an owner buys not a single villa but the entire fortified hamlet that once surrounded it, five, ten, sometimes twenty stone buildings around a central piazza, all of it walled, much of it dating to the eleventh or twelfth century and spends a decade returning each building to use as part of one larger property.
The borgo as a typology is unique to Italy and is the one architectural format that absolutely cannot be reproduced elsewhere; the geometry of the buildings is what defines the experience. There is always an internal piazza. There is always a former church or chapel. The houses share walls in clever ways. Children can run free across the whole site without ever being out of earshot.
What the category gives you is privacy at a different scale. You are not renting a villa; you are renting a tiny medieval village. The pool sits in what was once the threshing floor; the dining hall was the granary; the staff kitchen is in the old wine cellar. You can have forty close friends and never be on top of each other.
Borgo properties sleep twelve to twenty-two in the configurations we represent; we have one larger candidate at thirty-plus that we hold privately. They are best for groups who want to spread out without losing the social heart, and they work especially well for the seven-night Saturday-to-Saturday rhythm.
