About
A small collection, by design.
Last updated · 11 May 2026
Exclusive Tuscany is a private collection of exceptional luxury villas to rent across Tuscany. It is run from London by its founders and it was made small on purpose.
What this is, and what it is not
Every other villa rental company in the world includes Tuscany. We made it the entire world. The collection sits at fewer than thirty houses, will not exceed forty and each house is in it for a specific editorial reason that we have written down. There is no second tier, no “view 247 more villas,” no algorithm sorting properties by margin. There is a small office in London and a list of houses we know intimately.
We are not a listing marketplace. The villas in the collection are not advertised here on behalf of their owners; the relationship is direct, the dossier is ours, the photography is ours and the person answering your enquiry has stayed in or visited the house in question. That is the entire model.
How a villa earns inclusion
We accept perhaps one villa for every twenty we visit. The criteria are narrow and we are willing to say so:
- Architecture or land worth writing about. A house that is editorially interesting before you furnish it, a fortified borgo, a winemaker’s villa, a contemporary restoration that respects what stood before it.
- An owner who cares. The houses we admire are the ones still being improved decades after they were rescued, by owners who treat them as a project, not a passive income line.
- A genuine sub-region. Tuscany has eight sub-regions in our taxonomy. We will not include a third villa in Chianti to fill a quota; we would rather wait for the right one in Lunigiana.
- Service that holds up. Housekeeping, gardening, the chef on request, the airport transfer. The luxury is the absence of friction, not the gold fittings.
When a house fails on one of these we say so to the owner. We have stepped back from villas mid-conversation when a criterion did not hold. The collection’s value rests on that discipline.
The founders
The collection is built and curated by its two founders, based in London. Between them they bring two decades in luxury hospitality and editorial publishing, a working knowledge of every sub-region we represent and the kind of relationships with owners and estate managers that take years to assemble and cannot be bought. Enquiries are answered personally, usually within a working day, by one of the founders or by a colleague who has been to the house you are asking about.
How we work with travellers
There is no instant booking, no automated quote, no live calendar. Tell us your dates, the size of your party, what kind of trip you are imagining, and one of the founders will reply directly with availability, full rates and a considered recommendation, including, on occasion, that none of our houses suits. We would rather lose the enquiry than place the wrong family.
We also work, quietly, with a small number of independent travel advisors whose taste we trust. If you are an advisor with a specialism in Italy and a roster of repeat clients we have not yet met, please write to us; we open a direct line.
What we publish
Beyond the collection itself, the site is also a working editorial on Tuscany: notes on the eight sub-regions, and the Journal, a slowly growing archive of pieces written by the founders on the towns, the months, the wines and the small practicalities of renting a villa here. Pieces are dated and revised when a fact stops being true.
Editorial standards
Every piece of writing on this site is the work of one of the founders or of a named colleague. Nothing on this site is generated by AI; nothing is bought; nothing is syndicated. If we recommend a restaurant, one of us has eaten there; if we describe a road, one of us has driven it; if we name a village, one of us has slept there. When we are wrong, we correct the page and note the change. To flag a correction or factual error, write to hello@exclusivetuscany.com.
How to reach us
By email at hello@exclusivetuscany.com, or by through the site. Our office is in central London; visitors are welcome by appointment and we will put the kettle on. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 to 18.30 GMT, with Saturday by arrangement.
