The essence
Casa Faraonia is a single-storey stone house at the end of a lane in the hamlet of Galenda, between Radda and Gaiole in Chianti, a few metres from the white roads of L'Eroica. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom — one of them wheelchair-accessible — open off an open-plan kitchen, dining and living room under beamed ceilings, with terracotta floors and soft pastel walls. Outside, a large lawned garden with 180-degree views over the Chianti hills holds a private saltwater pool, a pergola for long lunches and a wood-fired pizza oven.

The villa
Architecture & restoration
Everything is on the ground floor. The open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge — fully equipped, with a drinking-water filter, smart TV and French doors to the terrace — sit under traditional beams, and a mezzanine snug with a sofa bed looks down on it. The master suite has its own terrace with loungers and a gazebo and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom; the second bedroom's double converts to twins, and the third opens to the garden. All three have their own bathrooms and air conditioning, and a laundry room has a washer and dryer.
