The essence
Borgo Bernardini is an entire Tuscan hamlet to take as your own — once the hunting-lodge retreat of Count Cosimo Bernardini, extended over the centuries into a small village in the hills above the walled city of Lucca. Twelve individually styled en-suite bedrooms sleep up to twenty-four amid wood-beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and warm colour. The reception rooms are a country house in themselves: a wine library of Tuscan vintages, a card and billiard room, a domed music room with a log fire, a grand banquet hall and a Tuscan kitchen. Around it lie ornamental ponds, antique fountains, time-forgotten courtyards and lemon-scented gardens.

The distinction
A whole private hamlet — twelve en-suite bedrooms for up to twenty-four — made for a large gathering, celebration or multi-family escape.
Reception rooms with real character: a wine library, a card and billiard room, a domed music room with fireplace, and a grand banquet hall.
Parkland of ornamental ponds, antique fountains and lemon gardens, a floodlit pool, and full estate staff — chef, maids, concierge and more.
The house
The borgo's village fabric is intact — wood-beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, warm welcoming rooms — restored for discreet luxury. Twelve bedrooms, multiple lounges, a banquet hall, wine library, music room and a fitness room spread across the hamlet's buildings and courtyards.
The setting
In the hills that surround the ancient walled city of Lucca, looking out over olive groves — once a hunting estate, now a serene private hamlet a short drive from the city.

Living here
Made for a crowd: long banquets in the great hall, tastings in the wine library, billiards after dinner, days around the pool and through the courtyards — with chef and staff turning a gathering of family and friends into something effortless and memorable.

Lucca & Garfagnana
Pisa is most guests' first hour in Tuscany and almost nobody's destination. How to use the city properly: the Field of Miracles early, lunch by the river, and the villa by mid-afternoon.

Lucca & Garfagnana
Lucca, the only Italian Renaissance city you can walk around on its own walls. The Puccini birthplace, the rooftop terraces, the *vie* on a Saturday morning, and how to use the city as part of a Tuscan week.
